American Cancer Society Relay For Life
The TLC Committee sympathizes with the journey of a cancer survivor and/or caregiver. For this reason, we participate in the annual Relay For Life of FIU, an inspiring event that invites us to support our fellow faculty, staff and extended FIU family members who have been touched by cancer. Join us at the next event during the spring semester.

American Heart Association
Bringing awareness to worthwhile causes is very important to FIU faculty and staff. Heart disease is the number 1 killer of men and number 3 killer of women in the United States. For this reason the university staff and faculty participate annually in the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk. More information coming soon as the event gets closer during the fall semester.

Berta D. Villares Book Scholarship Fund
The Berta D. Villares Book Scholarship Award was established in honor of Berta D. Villares, former Associate Director of Benefits at FIU. Berta served our FIU community with relentless dedication and passion, and helped many faculty and staff members make sound decisions with important benefit options.

The Berta D. Villares Book Scholarship Award will provide an eligible faculty/staff member currently using the FIU Tuition Waiver Policy a one-time cash award. The award is designed to help offset the expenses associated with the purchase of required course textbooks.

FIU Homecoming
Homecoming Week is a special time of the year when our FIU family and friends come together to celebrate our Panther pride! As president Mark B. Rosenberg shares, Homecoming is about the memories and hopes of our University Family. It is a time to celebrate the unity of our community and the many positive elements of our ideally located University.”

President’s Annual Toy Drive
Our university community is committed to making a difference in the lives of those in need, especially during the holiday season. Each year our faculty and staff generously donate more than 1,500 toys for school aged children. Through the annual President’s Annual Toy Drive, FIU is able to bring smiles to children in our local community. Catch the FIU spirit and donate a toy we hope to see you at the annual President’s Holiday Celebration next holiday season more details to come next November.

The FIU S.T.E.P.P. Program is designed to help our faculty and staff excel personally and professionally. S.T.E.P.P. is an acronym for “Striving to Enhance Personal Performance”. At FIU, we are committed to our employees' personal and professional development and encourage the necessary steps be taken to ensure optimal performance.

Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Day
FIU celebrates Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day as an opportunity for our FIU parents to not only show their children what they do during the work day, but also to expose them to the value of higher education at our Worlds Ahead university.

TLC Brigade Food Bank
The FIU TLC Brigade provides non-perishable goods for any FIU Staff or Faculty in the midst of an economic crisis or other emergency. The Food Bank is replenished by the generosity of faculty and staff. Donations are accepted year-round and special requests will be made to the FIU community from time-to-time to replenish the food bank and/or to accommodate special requests.

University Hardship Fund
The University Hardship Fund has been established to help eligible faculty and staff who are experiencing a qualified emergency and who have exhausted all avenues for obtaining help.

United Way of Miami Dade
With your support, we will continue to help provide those in need with an opportunity to receive a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement and good health.
